Class exercise, April

Welcome back! I trust your spring breaks were all as exciting as all get out. There was a blog post due for today, BUT since I forgot to tell you about it and only one of you knows how to read the syllabus (thank you Tricia), I have decided to make it into an in-class writing exercise. So, with that in mind, please respond to the following as a comment on the post.

What was your most memorable moment of Spring Break (keep it as appropriate as possible)? Did you do anything fun/exciting/enjoyable? Did you actually do any schoolwork, or was it a completely free week for you? Of all the Spring Breaks of your life, how would you rank this one? If you could change one thing that happened to you, or do one thing that you didn't get to over the previous week, what would it be?

Be prepared to discuss.

  1. my spring break didnt have anything especially memorable. most of my friends at other schools were already done with their spring breaks and there wasnt anyone around. most of the time i would just work and hang out with my girlfriend. i spent alot of time catching up with my family and eating way more food than i should have. only one pretty interesting thing that happened is when i was working at my uncles bar there was a huge barfight broke out. i had to help break it up. other than that i relaxed and did absolutely nothing.

  2. For this spring break i didnt go anywhere except stay at home the entire time. Usually i travel to Florida and stay with my family down there but this is the first year i did not. I cant say i really had a memorable spring break to be honest. I just pretty much hungout with old friends and relaxed with my family. It was nice getting a weeks break to relax from school work and all of that awesome stuff. It was nice to see everyone and my old friends because i havent gotten to see them in a really long time, also to see how things are going for them and just catch up on things. For the most part i just worked and enjoyed the cold weather being gone and the warm weather being here. If i had to pick something to be my most memorable time it would have to be i went and stayed the night at a couple friends house from KSU just to see a different town and plus they lived pretty close to my hometown. Also to see that they all pretty much live in manchins. The whole day we wondered the streets and toured each of theirs houses and their insane mall. It wouldnt be too approperate to talk about what happened at night time so thats better left unsaid. So for the most part i kind of just hungout and relaxed, i also worked everyday so i guess you can say i had a pretty average spring break this year.

  3. Well, this spring break wasn’t much different than the rest of my life. I just worked a lot and hung out with my friends. I did have a pretty good time. Me and all of my friends tried to make it memorable since it is our last spring break and we’re SENIORS! So we just kicked it a lot and that’s about it. I got my prom dress which was pretty fun. The week was pretty free minus Sunday when I decided to work on school stuff after my family stuff for Easter. That sucked because I was so full and just wanted to sleep but I decided to be a good student and do homework. This spring break was probably an 8 on a scale of 1-10 10 being great. If I could have changed one thing I would have went out of state. Butttt, I’m saving that for June the week after I graduate when we go to Myrtle Beach so if I would have gone on a vacation then I would be broke. Although I still am broke. Maybe I would have gone out a little more and studied a little more. I feel like I just worked and slept and went out. I guess it was pretty fun. It’s just like my weekends though so whatever. Nothing special happened…

  4. The most memorable moment, of two moments, during my spring break was a thirty minute religious debate with some whack-job at the Student Center. Other than that, my break consisted mostly of my regular routine, minus all my classes. Gym, 7 small meals a day, waking up early, not staying up late. I did not want to get used to being lazy and have to adjust to that schedule again. Anyway, that debate was very interesting, but at the time I would have chewed off my arm like a wolf in a trap if it would have meant escape. Other than expressing views that guy has somehow never heard anyone argue before, it did help me learn more about the things I believe and live by. Pretty much every other spring break was just me being extremely lazy, and someday I want to have a crazy-ass college spring break before I get too much older.

  5. This spring break I really did not do to much of anything. I purposely did not make plans because I needed to take a break from everything. This semester has been very stressful for me and it was nice to just step back for a week and relax on my own time. I worked over break, however, and sweat my ass off when it reached 80 degrees outside and 100 in my pizza place. I also went to the mall a couple times. One time I went to painted penguin where I painted a flower for my mom. It was exciting I guess. I did not do any school work what so ever. I actually just opened my book bag this morning to take the books I used the Thursday before break out. I did however check my grades, if that counts as school orientated. This spring break was not very enjoyable out of all my other ones. This is the first time in 6 years I have not went somewhere on my spring break for vacation. Kinda depressing, I know! I would rank this a 3 out of 10 and even that is being generous. I would like to be going to the Florida Keys this week with my whole family, but of course Kent State spring break did not cooperate. I would like to spending time with my grandmother over again. I spent one day with her and I really do not get chance to see her all that much. We went out to dinner with her and my cousin and it was great to spend time with my family in general.

  6. Over spring break I helped out with my high school softball team a lot. My coach asked me to come back and help because they hired a j.v coach who doesn't know anything about the game so I had to help her at practice. The first day I went home I went to visit my mom and school and then went down to the field for their practice, the second day I went to their scrimmage and helped out and then Sunday I just relaxed. On Monday I went to West Liberty University and practiced for volleyball because I’m thinking about transferring down there to play volleyball. After practice I went to my friend’s room and talked to him because I hadn’t seen him in forever. On Wednesday I went to the softball game and helped out with the team. My break wasn’t very interesting because all I did was helped out with softball and watched my nephew. Over the weekend we had Easter at my house and Saturday I went to a GBA basketball tournament and helped work the clock. This pretty much sums up my exciting spring break. But I love going home.

  7. My most memorable moment (it was a long "moment" - basically a full day) was on Wednesday when my friends and I went to Virginia Kendall ledges. It was like 70 degrees and the first truly nice day of the year, and the Ledges are my second favorite summer spot (first: Cedar Point) so we were very anxious to get out there. It was a day full of hiking, exploring, running and jumping, and it was just as fun as always. The only thing keeping it from being perfect was the fact that there are not any leaves on the trees yet, so we couldn't FULLY appreciate nature as much as you can over the summer, but it was still a nice reminder of how beautiful the great outdoors are, considering we've seen nothing but snow for the last 5 months.

I didn't do a single second of school work, although I had some stuff that I probably should have done. But that's not what Spring Break is for - it's for the exact opposite. It was a decent Spring Break overall. I usually don't go anywhere exotic or fun for Spring Break but I played basketball almost every day, explored the outdoors a few times and generally made pretty good use of the good weather we're finally having, so all-in-all I'd say it was a pretty successful break. Not sure how it would rank in the all-time list, though. If I could change one thing about my break I would choose not to try and jump a rocky gap at the ledges that resulted in my busting my knee up. I think that's the only regret that I have. Also we didn't bring enough water, so I would bring more water. Definitely more water.

  8. My spring break was not all that exciting. I still had school at my high school so in the mornings I was required to still go to my 3 classes. On Monday though I went to Kent State Stark to take my score test and schedule for fall semester. So I have an official schedule for next semester already which is pretty sweet. I did do some school work, not only for my high school but I also worked on editing my papers for College Writing so I could start putting together my portfolio. It’s nice knowing that I have about half of that out of the way now. On Wednesday I went prom dress shopping with my mom for the whole day. It was pretty tiring and in the end I just ordered one I’ve had my eye on online. I also took this last week off from going to my internship so that gave me a little bit more free time. I spent a lot of it with some old friends I don’t see very much from high school which was nice. I also got to spend some time with my little sister which doesn’t happen very often. I worked a lot at my job at old navy we had a very busy weekend before Easter. Luckily I didn’t have to work on Easter and I got to go to my grandmas and spend time with my mom’s side of the family. I had a ton of fun and we discussed plans for our summer vacation to Florida. All in all my spring break went pretty quick and it was pretty boring. It was nice not having to drive out to kent every other day though!

  9. I have been dreading spring break all year along with every break so far. The idea of giving up all the bit of freedom and self-reliance that I had gained in late August is haunting. Not to mention the fact that our internet at home morphed into lusifer and denied me entry to the outside world. After the death of my Gedo (grandfather), and my recently bed riden baba (grandmother) our former exciting Spring Bysatine Catholic/Slovak traditons have deteriated. So the high light of my Spring break was not spending time with my friends who didn't get back till the saturday before easter sunday, but it was racking sticks and really sharp chestnut shells up out of a yard, cuting down trees, shaping trees, and weeding, which just equaled being outside and out of my house and away from my mother.

  10. Over spring break, I ended up going to Hocking Hills with my mom and sister for 3 days. We stayed in a cabin called "The Tree House". It had a private stocked pond where I fished every day. It also had a hot tub on the deck along with a grill, where I grilled some steak. We hiked a lot on these trails that were literally on sheer cliffs. Some of the views were 200 or so feet to the bottom, looking straight down. I ended up catching a few bass and a lot of bluegill which wasn’t bad for this time of year. I’d say that this spring break was average. I’ve had better, but it was still really fun. If I could change something I would have tried to get off work the rest of the week, so I could relax.

Mostly shopping. I cut my hair. I had a great time at home for once and enjoyed being there which was rare because i usually dont. But it was fun and i wish i coulda went to a different state or actually done something but i was being lazy so i didnt and i could have but i didnt so its my fault other than that i had fun.

  12. My most memorable moment on spring break for me would have to be when all my close friends came home from mount union, the army, and kansas, we all got together at our friend baxters house and had a bon fire but with little wood as usual. The reason why i say this because me and my two other friends stayed up till 7 in the morning talking and telling stories and just hanging out. To me thats all i need is my friends summer, and sitting around a bon fire. other than that the whole week i was working and then when the weekend came i was just hanging out. This spring break probably wasn't the most fun, im sure future spring breaks will be a lot better than this one. I did not think once about school work, it was just a relaxing week not to think about anything.

  13. SPRING BREAK ! PLEASE COME BACK ! this spring break was one of the best times i have ever had. I went to nyc to see one of my best friends tat moved out there recently. It was my first time getting to see NY without the parents, so i kind of saw a a different side of new york. My friend models out there, therefor has alot of different connections. I dont want to go into to much detail because it is not that "class appropriate" but getting into clubs should be alot harder for a 19 year old. Another thing cool about NY is the transportation system. Most people that are born and raised in NY have never driven a car or even thought about getting a license. EVERYONE in new york takes te subway. And honestly the subway is faster to get around than by car, just because of all the traffic. I had a great spring break and it was good to see my dude that i hadent seen in a long time

  14. Given that my funds were too small for the typical panama city spring break i decided to go visit my dad and his family in Vancouver british Columbia. I somehow managaed to convince my friend Patrick to come with me. The begginging of our trip such as getting to the airport and finding our gates started out fine, because of our different flights we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways. Before our departure I told him that my dad wanted him to get some whiskey and tequila for him at the duty free because the booze in Canada is so expensive. Once my flight hit ground in the city of Vancouver I proceded to turn on my phone and like 8 missed texts from pat appeared on my phone. The last one saying britt I have been deported. I thought he was kidding at first but after a quick phone call to my friend he informed me that at the duty free he bought 3 bottles instead of 2 and so the security guards did a backround check on him and find that he had a un paid parking ticket so a warnet out for his arrest.
